The Initiative for
Responsible Mining Assurance

The IRMA process is governed by a representative group of its participating members. During the Vancouver Dialogue meeting, participants selected the following individuals to serve as the IRMA Coordinating Committee:

• Three members from a mining industry perspective: Mick Roche (BHP Billiton), Dave Baker (Newmont), and Anne Marie Fleury (ICMM)
• Four members from an NGO and community perspective: Steve D’Esposito (Earthworks), Marta Miranda (WWF) and 2 remaining community or NGO representatives still to be identified
• Three members from a jewellery retail perspective: Dee Breazeale (Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club), Michael Rae (CRJP) and Rob Headley (Tiffany & Co.)

The Coordinating Committee may establish temporary working groups that will work on specific tasks. The working groups may include individuals not participating in IRMA such as those with specific experience or expertise.

The IRMA membership may adapt the governance structure as the initiative evolves, both to respond to new circumstances and as membership expands.

IRMA is working to create a system that ensures that mining is consistent with healthy communities and environments, and that mine sites leave positive long-term legacies.
