Privacy Policy

The following Privacy Policy conditions apply for:

For Website Visitors

The Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) respects the privacy of our site visitors. IRMA will never sell site visitors’ information to third parties. This statement informs you of our policies and practices regarding what information we gather and how we use that information.
We use cookies (“web analytics” cookies) to help us track usage patterns in order to improve and manage our site. We do not use them to target advertising or promotional materials. We also log your domain and IP address automatically when you visit our site, however, this information does not identify you as an individual, only the device that you are using to view the site and your approximate geographic location.

When IRMA does collect personally identifiable information, it is always voluntarily submitted by you (e.g., when you sign-up to “stay connected”, send us a message through our Contact Us form, or join as a subscriber or member). The information collected is used to send our users email news and relevant information. If for any reason, you would like to be removed from our email list(s), you can unsubscribe by sending an email to info [at] responsiblemining [dot] net.

This website contains links to other third-party websites. Before disclosing your personal information on any other website, we advise you to examine the privacy statements of those websites. IRMA takes no responsibility for the privacy practices or the content of any websites other than this one.

You may ask us to provide you with information, products or services and in doing so supply an email address and other personal information. We store this information very carefully, and it will not be passed to anyone outside IRMA for any other purpose, except with those selected third party organizations who may be asked to assist us in providing you with the information, products or services that you have requested. However, where it is necessary, in order to answer your inquiry, the information you have provided may be passed to any IRMA office worldwide. By sending this information to us you are consenting to the personal information contained therein being transferred within the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance worldwide and being processed by IRMA for these purposes.

As we plan to keep our privacy statement current, this information can be subject to change. When appropriate, a revised privacy statement will be posted on our website which will incorporate any changes. We recommend you return periodically to review the latest policy.

For Responsible Mining Map Registrants

The Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) Responsible Mining Map registration form gathers information that IRMA will use to populate your point(s) on the Map, including your organization’s profile. The registration form enables companies/organizations to choose which information will be included in its public Map profile. IRMA will never sell Map registrants’ information to third parties.

By submitting a registration form, the company/organization agrees to allow IRMA to disclose publicly the information provided therein on the IRMA Map unless the registrant specifically identifies pieces of information to be kept private.

If permission for public disclosure of certain information is not granted in the registration form, IRMA agrees not to disclose that information publicly or to any third-party. IRMA may use the information for its own internal purposes to generate aggregate statistics related to Map participation.

As we plan to keep our privacy statement current, this information can be subject to change. When appropriate, a revised privacy statement will be posted on our website which will incorporate any changes. We recommend you return periodically to review the latest policy.

For Mine Sites Participating in IRMA (Self-Assessment - Certification)

Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) will never sell to third parties nor disclose publicly any of the information in a Mine Site Profile or a mine site’s Self-Assessment results without permission from the company.

IRMA will not share the results of any IRMA analyses that are based on Mine Site Profile data and Self-Assessment results publicly or with third parties except in aggregate form (e.g., IRMA will not disclose the name of any mine site in association with any particular finding).

During its 2018-2019 Launch Phase, IRMA is offering self-assessing mines the opportunity to put themselves on the Responsible Mining Map.

Except for some select required data (e.g., mine site name, mine operating company, mine site address and commodities being mined) the Mine Site Profile form enables companies/organizations that opt to put their sites on the Responsible Mining Map to choose which information will be included in their public IRMA Map profile. While IRMA encourages mines using the Self-Assessment Tool to share their results via the Map, we do not require this sharing and IRMA, as stated above, will not disclose self-assessment results publicly or with third parties except in aggregated form (no names in association with particular findings).

To be kept current, this information can be subject to change. When appropriate, a revised privacy statement will be posted on our website which will incorporate any changes. We recommend you return periodically to review the latest policy.
